Betty J. Leggett, 75, died Thursday, July 10, 2008 in Savannah.

Mrs. Leggett, a native of Savannah was born on June 24, 1933, the daughter of the late Lewyn and Celeste Chester. Betty was a 1951 graduate of Commercial High School. She worked in the medical profession as an Office Manager and Medical Secretary for over fifty years. She was a faithful and longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church, serving the church in various activities, including singing in the church choir and caring for infants in the church nursery for over fifty years.

Mrs. Leggett is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Cecil E. Leggett; daughter, Celeste James and husband Raymond of Savannah; son, C. Ernest Leggett, Jr. and wife Nancy of Richmond Hill; daughter, Alicia Powell and husband Bruce of Savannah; grandchildren, Krista James, Brandon James, Jennifer Powell and Evan Powell; sister, Joan C. Honeycutt and husband David of Savannah; brother-in-law, Chester Leggett and wife Judy of West Jefferson, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Sunday at Immanuel Baptist Church with burial following at the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to the Music Ministry of Immanuel Baptist Church, 7375 Hodgson Memorial Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.
